There is never a shortage of portable speakers and they come in just about every shape and size you could possibly imagine. A lot of them aren’t exactly designed to be stashed in your pocket though. They’re more worried about having some cute shape or creating a speaker that can dangle from a keychain. Which is perfectly fine, unless you really do want something to just carry in your pocket. If that’s the case, then you’ll probably like these new speakers from ABC Corp Japan.
Since they’re called Pocket Speakers, you can guess where they were designed to be carried. The company has taken an eco-friendly stance and are recommending the use of Sanyo’s eco-friendly Enelopp batteries. Specifically, you’ll need one AA battery to keep it charged. It comes in a variety of colors and has an amplifier that delivers an output of 0.5W x 2ch. You can purchase it for 1980 Yen, which translates into about $22.

Pocket Speakers make music on the go simple
Labels: Batteries, pocket, SpeakersAion Supplies Clean Water
Designed by Antoin Lebrun, the Aion is a multi-functional appliance which utilizes plants for their filtering and cleaning properties to provide a renewable supply of clean water and vegetable soap. When cooking, the plants act as a filtering hood. When it’s time to clean up, place the dirty dishes into the sink, shut the hood and the natural cleaning cycle will begin.
Presenting the Polite Umbrella
Anyone who has been out carrying an umbrella on a rainy day will know how difficult it is to maneuver their way through a crowded sidewalk. If you have ever tried it, you will find yourself constantly paranoid about poking someone in the eye (or ear or nose), or constantly faced with the problem of having to perform some complicated calisthenics to try and avoid the inevitable umbrella related accident. This cool gadget by Joo Youn Paek called the ‘Polite Umbrella’ is especially designed so that you don’t have to worry about any inadvertent umbrella-related accidents in the future.
This is how it looks normally
With one simple tug on the handle, this is what happens
As you can see, before the guy tugs on the handle, it looks like any other cool umbrella, but as soon as the guy pulls on the special handle, voila! The umbrella shrinks to half its original size.
Here is a sketch of the design with arrows indicating how it works
Due to its design, the Polite Umbrella is even useful when the weather is both windy and rainy. If you have had the experience of taking an umbrella out in that weather, you will know how difficult it is to make sure your umbrella doesn’t invert itself or, even worse, gets caught in an updraft and goes flying away.
Here’s the best part though… In spite of everything, if you still want to poke someone with an umbrella, then you still can
Transparent Toaster
This transparent toaster allows you to see the bread while it is toasting so you're never surprised by toast that comes out too dark. This idea is based on a transparent heating glass technology. Although the glass does not currently get hot enough to toast bread, the vendor explained with some R&D this application may be possible. The concept was developed by the Inventables Concept Studio

Pill Microphone for the iPod
Labels: Ipod, Microphone
Pill popping has become an undesirable habit among many people these days (look what it did to the late MJ), making us question the wisdom of making a microphone for the iPod that comes in the form of a pill. Well, guess as long as you do not mistake it for your regular intake of multi-vitamins instead, all should be well and fine. The jury is still out there on whether the audio quality picked up by this is good enough, but we’re guessing the answer is not too positive
The French Fry Phone
If you have a serious thing for french fries, then you’ll love this phone. It flips open to reveal a hidden key pad that allows you to dial and talk into the french fries. The red plastic phone comes at an extremely affordable price too. You can pick it up for all of $20 from Urban Outfitters. Honestly, Urban Outfitters has got to be my new favorite store, purely due to having anything from french fry phones on up to extremely well made retro radios

The SmartShopper
Labels: shop, shopping, SmartShopper
No list would be complete without a gadget to make Mom’s life a little easier. Press record and speak into the device to add grocerys or tasks to your list. When you’re ready to go out for the day, it conveniently prints out an categorized list for everything that you have stored previously. Instead of sitting down to write down a massive list to take to the grocery store, family members can add things to the list during the week. It saves money and time by helping to prevent return trips to the store. Now if only you could take it with you and have it speak to you as you’re shopping…you’d never forget anything again.
Self Propelled Suitcase
For the traveler, a self propelled suitcase can be a life saver. It is designed to give you a little help when you need a little boost when you are rolling along, towing it behind you. While it’s not going to power up and start moving on its own, it will certainly give your back a break when the wheels kick in and start moving. The assistance kicks in when the suitcase is in motion, the handle is pulled out, and it is tilted. Although most people will not have an issue with packing enough weight into the suitcase, it requires at least 15 lbs for it to operate and holds up to 70.5lbs.

The Light Pillow
Labels: bedroom, dream, kid, Light Pillow
This is one of those lamps you really wish you could afford so that you could place it in your child’s room. Then investing quite a bit in giving the room a highly whimsical theme and creating basically a dream land. Odd lighting that no one would ever expect to see always makes for a great way to change up a room. Even a normally plain room would be perked up with something like this.
It can be tossed onto the floor, placed on a table, hung on the wall or even used as a chandelier. It’s also easy to wash, so for those of you that would use this for a kid, it’d still be a great option. The cover itself is completely removable and made of 100% cotton, while the frame is made of powder-coated metal. They don’t actually give any indication as to what type of light bulb this would need or if it’s an LED light. You can purchase this Light Pillow, designed by Linus Kutavicius, for $189 from Generate.
Adjustable Incline Inflatable Bed is one of a kind
Hammacher is a great site to go to in order to discover items you need that you never knew you needed. Yes, we’ve pretty much all slept on one of those obnoxious inflatable mattresses at some point in our lives. I’ve never met a single person who has anything good to say about the experience either. Every mattress promises to stay inflated for the entire night and yet without fail you’ll wake up with your tail bone bruised from it resting on the hard floor or ground. Well Hammacher has a new air up mattress for you and this one even has an incline on it.
It claims to be the absolute only of its kind, which I fully believe, since I’ve never seen anything even remotely like this. Hopefully with its massive base you wouldn’t be stuck waking up with a less than squishy surface underneath you. The bed will deflate in four minutes (that’s when you want it to deflate) and will hold up to 450lbs when it is all full of air. The back rest raises up by turning a dial that inflates a different section on the mattress. This is thankfully not your average air mattress. You can purchase it for $199.95.

Rocking Horse Cellphone Holder
Labels: accessories, Cellphones, horses, iPhone
Here’s another set of accessories that look as if they were created for a younger bunch, but are likely marketed towards adults or young adults. Then again those that own cellphones are getting younger and younger every year. Cellphones are even created to be marketed towards preschoolers. So perhaps these were intended for young kids. No matter what your age though, it’d be hard to deny that these rocking horses are definitely charming.
These are handcrafted using genuine Brazilian leather, so at least they use quality items to create them. Within the saddle is an area cut out to place your cellphone within. As you can probably tell from the picture, it’s doubtful that something as large as the iPhone will fit. It’d have to be a phone slightly smaller, probably about the size of a typical flip phone would be fine. These are sold for 980 Taiwan dollars or about $29 at the 25TOGO Store. Which means you’d have to find a way to have them shipped outside of Taiwan.
Hamburger Bed Design: Vegetarian’s Worst Nightmare
What better way to go to sleep at night or simply hang out while watching TV then a deluxe or special hamburger bed…eh..actually it is a Chesseburger; I mean, this bed design truly looks comfortable and pampering.
One great thought came to mind is that it is always done to the right preference, the vegetables will never rot, and may give you a meaty satisfaction…hopefully saving you money on eating out.
While I heard of people being in love with their furniture and others saying they have the most comfortable bed, this Hamburger Bed has its own Facebook Page. You can become a fan of it, get inspired by its juiciness, vegetables or slice of cheese on top. I wonder if vegetarians will stir away from this bed design because of its theme, and if some religions stir away because of the cheese slice with meat.
I love different food designs and few worth noting are the Nikon D700 Camera Cake, Lego Sushi, and also the Sushi USB Gadgets.
Mini Hamburger and Popcorn Crumb Vacuum Cleaners
Geeks often have to eat while working and have really no time and energy to clean up the crumbs and the mess from the desk, so now they can get any one of these fun Mini Hamburger or Pop Corn Crumb Vacuum cleaner to clean up the mess with just a lazy movement of the hand.
The one touch battery operated Mini Hamburger and Pop Corn Crumb Vacuum Cleaners are 4 inches in diameter and 3 inches tall. They look like real yummy food themselves and keeping them on working desks or dining table or kitchen tops would constantly remind geeky gamers about the need to eat good food too. They look more like fun decorative pieces than small useful gadgets.
These are indeed utilitarian products. These light breezy vacuum cleaners are just right for little irritating food crumbs. There is no need to do to heavy manual or power cleaning. In fact they can be used to suck crumbs from car seats or floors too. These mini vacuum cleaners come for $11.99 each.
There are other vacuum cleaners like Computer Keyboard Brush Gun or the Roomba Pacman Vacuum. But Mini Hamburger and Pop Corn Crumb Vacuum Cleaners are more deceptive of them all.

LED Umbrella
Labels: LED Umbrella, Los Angeles
Cross Now... Cross Now...
Early in the 21st Century, the Tyrell Corporation advanced robot evolution into the Nexus phase - a being virtually identical to a human - known as a Replicant. They're all around you, even now. That guy next to you? He's a Replicant. How do we know? He's walking the streets in the rain with no umbrella. That, and he failed the Voight-Kampff.
In the pre-apocalyptic future, the air will be so thick, it will be dark in the middle of the day. Coupled with the almost constant rain, you'll need to find a way to stay dry, and light your way to the noodle shop down the street.
Even if you don't live in a quasi-futuristic Los Angeles, and aren't a Blade Runner, you can still have the coolest umbrella on the street. With a push of a button, the shaft lights up, illuminating you and your path. Now, even in the darkest of nights, you're a lot more visible to the cars on the street, making your long walk home through the rain a lot safer.
Available in black with white LED's, and red with red LED's! Uses 3 AAA batteries, included

Mini Ball USB Speaker has built-in sound card
Now this is a gadget that keeps things nice and simple. If you for some reason don’t have a sound card, it still allows for you to listen to your music. It has a built-in sound card along with a tiny speaker. It’s not going to have fantastic sound, but when you don’t have a sound card, things can get fairly desperate. This would be a nice and affordable temporary fix for the issue. That or if you’re not really worried about it, it could be a permanent fix.
The little ball speakers come in 4 different colors, blue, orange, pink and finally white. With that selection it’d be easy for just about anyone to find a color they’d enjoy. Son of Hibachi!
Labels: BBQ, Cooking, Portable BarbequesPortable Barbeques are a great way to have the fun and enjoyment of eating your own thick slab of patties on the outdoors without having to have much burden on the bulk of traditional BBQ grills. However, portable BBQ also seem to equate long pre-heating time, cleaning would be much for a chore, takes time to cool down, very limited cooking area, and taking care of ashes is a huge mess.
The old time Hibachi BBQ brings it mini-me counterpart with the Son of Hibachi. This curse sounding BBQ device promises to end all of those portable nightmares that you can think of! First is portability. The folding design minimizes space while solving another problem of long pre-heating time. Folding the BBQ creates a chimney effect that blast heats the coal ready for cooking in just 7-10 minutes. When fully expanded, the total cooking area is 170? which is very much enough for patties, kebabs, corn, etc. After being finished with all the cooking, folding it back would create intense heat that would heat oil and grease making them slide down to the chute below where all the trash is along with the ashes ready for disposal when convenient. The last is the cooling time period which is solved by the included Snuff Out Pouch that is made out of the same material that firemen use which cools the grill without hours of waiting or lots of water.
Durability, functionality and reliability are the best words to describe Son of Hibachi making it the ultimate portable BBQ.

Spider Vac
Labels: Spider Vac, vacuum mechanism
Love them or hate them spiders just seem to be everywhere where we don’t like them. In our bed, table, or even in our tub; we just have to get rid of them in one way or another. Unfortunately, we don’t have much choice in getting rid of them. We usually kill them with a slipper, a rolled up newspaper or a hardbound Harry Potter book that would all leave a spider crime scene which would pinch our conscience. But still, how bad they might look, some spiders are actually beneficial insects gobbling up other unwanted organisms. The question still remains, how can you get rid of an insect which you are afraid of but not kill it? Answer – the Spider Vac.
The Spider Vac can capture those eight legged creatures using a vacuum mechanism that easily lifts them of the ground and into the tube which you could plug to trap the spider inside then release at a better location. The fully extendable 17.5in capturing tube will ensure safe distance between you and that nasty critter. The lightweight and ergonomic design means easy maneuverability of the device to avoid accidental release of the spider like in your foot or someone’s head that could cause a greater commotion not to mention forever hatred. Upon thinking on it, this device could also be used on basically any other insect that you want to get rid of like roaches or flies. For a few bucks, this device is a must have for arachnophobics and the like.
